Nanopharma’s founders and
advisors have
worked together for a number of years and have been involved in the Tampa
Bay area entrepreneurial scientific community for a
long time. The management team responsible for
scientific and business direction, funding and product development has been carefully chosen
to provide a versatile and balanced approach to the many steps of pharmaceutical
development.
Seyoung Jang, Ph.D.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Seyoung Jang serves as Chief Executive Officer for Nanopharma
Technologies, Inc. He is also the co-founder of Nanopharma. In addition to
a strong background in organic chemistry and polymer science, Dr. Jang
offers extensive product management and business acumen. Prior to this
executive position, he worked in the private sector as VP/Director of
product development of
other small pharmaceutical firms and chemical production firms.
Dr. Jang received a Ph.D.
in Organic Chemistry from Seoul National University and was a post-doctoral
fellow in Polymer Science at Akron University, Ohio.
Edward Turos, Ph.D.
Founder and Chief Scientific Advisor
Dr. Turos is co-founder and Chief
Scientific Advisor to the company. Dr. Turos is also the Director for the
Center for Molecular Diversity in Drug Design, Discovery and Delivery. Since
2003, he has been Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry of the
University of South Florida. Prior to this appointment, he was Assistant
Professor at SUNY Buffalo and a postdoctoral fellow at Yale University. Dr.
Turos has extensive experience in the field of synthetic and organic
chemistry, a record of over 50 journal publications and a dozen more patent
disclosures and applications. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in
1986.
Claudio Rota, Ph.D.
Vice President of Business Development and Marketing
Dr. Rota joined Nanopharma in September 2006
as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. Dr. Rota brings valuable experience in early-stage biotechnologies, technology
transfer, intellectual property, marketing and licensing. He has relevant
experience and background as a scientific and regulatory consultant (GMP) to various companies.
He has over five
years of preclinical research experience and fully understands the
commercial merit of our projects. Dr. Rota holds a B.S. in
Physics from the Southern Polytechnic State University and a M.S. and Ph.D.
in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rochester.
Vivian Lauderdale,
MS, MBA, RAC
Director Regulatory Affairs/Board
of Advisors
Ms. Vivian Lauderdale
is a Certified Regulatory Affairs Professional and Director of Quality
Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. Ms. Lauderdale brings numerous years of experience
in start-up medical product development, quality assurance and regulatory
affairs for both pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
Ashley Young,
BS, CLSpMB
Director,
Laboratory Operations
Ms. Young joined the
company in 2006. As of May 2007, she was promoted to Laboratory Director and
is now responsible for all preclinical development.
Ms. Young has over 8 years of hands-on experience in molecular biology and
general laboratory operations, both in the private and public sector. Her
experience includes the establishment of a CLIA-licensed and CAP-accredited,
international molecular diagnostics laboratory specializing in the diagnosis
of rare genetic diseases. Ms. Young received a B.S. in Microbiology with a
minor in Chemistry from Louisiana State University and she is a Certified
Laboratory Specialist
in Molecular Biology (CLSpMB).
Michael Fountain,
Ph.D., MBA
Board of Advisors
Dr. Michael Fountain,
Director of the University of South Florida Center for Entrepreneurship, has agreed to be on the scientific and advisory committee of
Nanopharma. He has outstanding and significant successes in both science and
business. He is
current Chairman of a private investment bank business and Suncoast Venture
forum.
Dr. Fountain
is the John & Beverley Grant Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship, College of
Business Administration at the University of South Florida.
